British Airways adds two new routes to expanding London Heathrow network for Summer 2026

British Airways is set to add new routes to its roster to let Brits explore more from next summer.

The airline has announced plans to add two new destinations from 2026 which will see it expand its short-haul network leaving from London Heathrow.

From next summer they will launch two new routes, adding Tivat in Montenegro and Guernsey in the Channel Islands to its schedule.

Seasonal flights to Tivat in Montenegro will begin from May 14 2026, setting off from Terminal 3 and will run three times every week.

Those wanting to visit Guernsey will also be able to all year round with the arrival of a service which is set to launch on April 19 2026.

The service will run from Terminal 5 and is set to become the first and only direct connection between Heathrow and the island.

The additions mean that BA now operate almost 100 short haul flights from Heathrow and follow the airline’s recent growth, including the introduction of Graz and the announcement of new long-haul service to St. Louis.

The news comes as another service announced plans to cut their destinations.

Ryanair announced this week that they will withdraw all flights to and from the Azores, including flights to and from London Stansted, Brussels Charleroi, Lisbon, and Porto from March next year.

The airline has blamed “excessive airport fees imposed by Portuguese operator ANA” and a lack of government action on rising aviation charges for the move, saying airport costs have surged by up to 35% since the pandemic, while Portuguese air traffic control fees have increased 120% and a new €2 travel tax has been introduced.

The decision will see the loss of six routes and around 400,000 passengers per year, ending a decade of Ryanair operations in one of Europe’s most remote regions.
