Britbox Spitting Image revival to parody Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and Prince Andrew

Britbox UK has commissioned a revival of the hit satirical series Spitting Image, for its first foray into original programming.

Spitting Image originally ran from 1984 to 1996 on ITV, and featured parodic depictions of well-known contemporary celebrities delivered through caricatured puppets.

Roger Law, who co-created the original series, will serve as an executive producer on the reboot.

“I’ve refused to resuscitate Spitting Image for years but when my pension ran out and my palm was crossed with silver, what could an old man do?” he quipped.

“The new Spitting Image will be global through a uniquely British eye; it will be more outrageous, audacious and salacious than the previous incarnation.”

Celebrities who will be impersonated include US President Donald Trump, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Prince Andrew, Adele, and James Corden.

Britbox, a streaming service which provides access to an extensive catalogue of British TV series, is a joint venture by the BBC and ITV.

Spitting Image will arrive on Britbox this autumn.
