Britain’s post-industrial cities are enjoying their first major boom in years – on the screen. There’s a major new studio opening to service York and Leeds, Belfast’s film location industry is thriving on the back of Game of Thrones and a new branch of Pinewood studios opened just outside Cardiff earlier this year.
While more could be done in terms of investment and regeneration in heavily industrialised areas, the atmospheric and uncompromising character of Britain’s post-industrial cities are in high demand on screen.
We’d like to see your images. Do you have a post-industrial cityscape you would like to share with us? Maybe a snapshot from where you grew up, or an image that reflects the demise of a heavily industrialised area? Whether a disused factory awaiting regeneration, an abandoned warehouse or an empty brewery, share your images of post-industrialised cities with us. We’ll feature the best of them on the site.
You can share your images by clicking on the blue ‘Contribute’ buttons. Or if you’re out and about you can download the Guardian app and search for ‘GuardianWitness assignments’.
