Britain's Got Talent winner pulls out of planned TV appearance after booing backlash

Britain's Got Talent's Viggo Venn pulled out of his planned TV appearance days after winning the 2023 run of the ITV talent show. The Norwegian comedian was told he had "captured the heart of the nation" with his high-vis inspired routines as he emerged victorious.

But after it was revealed that he had bagged the £250,000 cash prize and a spot at the upcoming Royal Variety Performance after beating stiff competition from 13-year-old dancer Lilliana Clifton and 14-year-old magician Cillian O’Connor, not everyone seemed impressed.

The unexpected winner faced boos from the live audience as they appeared unhappy at the result. And some watching the final unfold at home demanded it should be the last series of the popular Saturday night show as they disagreed with the choice of champion.

And days after his win, BGT fans had been expecting Viggo to appear alongside Lorraine Kelly in the studio of her self-titled chat show to talk about what has turned into a dramatic win.

Lorraine's official Twitter page tweeted on Monday afternoon: "SO excited to say @ViggoVenn is joining @reallorraine live for his first TV interview tomorrow morning."

However, Lorraine was forced to explain to viewers that he was no longer appearing on the programme on Tuesday (June 6) as planned. The Scottish presenter confirmed Viggo was no longer able to make his scheduled appearance as he wasn't "feeling well" but hopefully claimed she would "see him later on".

"Viggo was supposed to be joining me in the studio this morning but unfortunately he's feeling too chipper but hopefully we'll see him later on," Lorraine said before adding that he "needs a wee rest" as he showcased a lot of "energy" during the final.

It comes after it was revealed that Viggo was the clear winner among the voting public, despite backlash, as the voting figures were revealed. The voting figures for the BGT final has shown that viewers voted in their droves for the slightly bonkers act with Viggo gaining 22 percent of the public vote to be crowned 2023 winner.

Lilliana, who came runner-up with her gymnast dance act, took 13.1% of the overall vote while third place Cillian received 11.8% of the public vote - giving Viggo a clear win.
