Britain's Got Talent winner Lost Voice Guy is looking for a Geordie to donate their voice to him

Comedian Lost Voice Guy is appealing for help to find a North East man willing to donate their voice to him, allowing him to speak like his family.

The Britain's Got Talent winner, real name Lee Ridley, has cerebral palsy which has left him unable to speak- but he hasn’t let his disability hold him back.

Lee, from Consett, won Britain’s Got Talent in 2018 but long before that became known for his hilarious comedy routines using an electronic communication device and was a well-established figure on the Newcastle comedy circuit.

He also won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2014 and has starred in several fundraisers and TV shows including Live At The Apollo and The Royal Variety Performance.

But Lee said he currently sounds like "a posh version of Robocop" and is looking for a male aged between 30 and 40 with a mild Geordie or County Durham accent.

Speech synthesis company CereProc has offered to make Lee his own North East accent so that he can sound like his family, who are also from Consett.

Lee said: "The very kind people at CereProc have offered to make me my very own Geordie accent for my iPad so that I don’t have to sound like a posh version of Robocop anymore (although I will miss telling that joke).

"And that’s where I need your help. I need someone who is willing to donate their voice to me. I promise it isn't as scary as it sounds! In fact, the process is quite simple.

"You’d just need to spend a total of around eight hours in a recording studio, while CereProc record all the sounds they need to create my new voice. You’d be paid for your time in the studio, and you’d have my eternal gratitude as well.

"Ideally, I am looking for a male voice, who is aged between 30 and 40 and has a mild Geordie/County Durham accent (my family are from Consett, so I’d like to sound as similar to them as possible).

"I will then listen to them all and choose which I think would suit me the best. Please DO NOT apply if you know me personally though. No offence to my mates, but that’d just be a bit too weird!

"If you want a bit more information about the process involved in donating and developing a new voice, you can watch a film I made for The One Show where I helped a young man called Jack getting a Black Country accent."

Those wanting to apply will have to read an extract from Lee's book 'I'm Only In It for the Parking: Everything I know about life, laughter', and send it to Lee who will listen and choose the one that suits him the best.
