Britain’s Got Talent wildcard act revealed as Amber and The Dancing Collies ahead of final

Amber and The Dancing Collies has been announced as the wildcard act for the Britain’s Got Talent final, set to compete for the win against the ten other finalists on Sunday.

Dog trainer Amber Karstens had made it to the semi-finals earlier this week before being eliminated, losing out to rap and pianist duo Flintz & T4ylor on the judges’ votes. But the surprise wildcard twist means that she is now back in with a chance of winning the £250,000 prize and a spot at this year’s Royal Variety Performance.

25-year-old Amber travelled from Holland with her talented dogs to audition for the ITV competition, performing a choreographed routine with dog Nymeria which left judge Alesha Dixon “speechless”. Amber told the judges that she had been rehearsing almost every day for more than seven months for the big moment.

She was an instant favourite among the judges, with Simon Cowell telling her: “You know I love dog acts - but this was in a different league. I mean, this is the best dog act we’ve had since Ashleigh and Pudsey,” he added, referencing the duo who won BGT back in 2012.

Amber and Nymeria were joined in the later stages of the competition by another dog, Ruby, and the semi-final saw the pups perform a pirate-themed routine. The BGT final will see the act perform one last time in hopes of being crowned this year’s champion.

Amber and The Dancing Collies will be one of 11 acts competing in the final stage, joined by the likes of The Greatest Showman singer Loren Allred, seven-year-old poet Aneeshwar Kunchala, and comedian Axel Blake. Amber is the only dog act performing in the final among a showcase of other unique talents, including 13-year-old ventriloquist Jamie Leahey, impressionist Ben Nickless, and young dance group 5 Star Boys.

You can tune in to the Britain’s Got Talent final from 7:30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub on Sunday June 5.
