Britain's Got Talent: The Champions scariest and possibly most bizarre performers

A knife swallower plunged head-first down a 20ft pole in this week's Britain's Got Talent:The Champions on ITV, and many viewers were too scared to watch.

That included Newcastle's Ant and Dec. But things returned to normal when the Geordie duo thought they'd found a familiar accent in the song of an unusual throat singer, who had everyone baffled.

"Why aye-eeeee Howay man!" the pair sang, in imitation of Ukrainian Gennady Tkachenko. There were puzzled faces everywhere and Simon Cowell couldn't resist asking: "Is that it?"

But it was America's Got Talent sword-swallower Alex Magala who raised everyone's eyebrows or saw them look away. He first got David Walliams and a frightened-looking Simon Cowell to pull the sword from his mouth, egged on by Ant and Dec.

But he then plunged down the pole, stopping just a few inches from the deck. Judge Alesha Dixon said: "I feel like I need to have a lie down after that! It's so stressful."

Blogger Kim Carberry tweeted: "One day it's going to be on the news that someone has killed themselves performing on one of the Got Talent shows! My betting is this sword guy! "

And viewer Emma Louise said: "I cannot deal with this sword swallowing man like why risk your life like that for entertainment purposes?!Was no risk assessment done beforehand?"

Other guests included former Britain's Got Talent winners Collabro - who once serenaded the Chroniclelive newsroom - and magician Ben Hart who amazed everyone, until things went a bit awry. And dancers Twist and Pluse got Alesha's Golden Buzzer to win this week's show.
