Britain's Got Talent's Souparnika Nair sparks 'second song' controversy from suspicious viewers

A young singer sparked fix claims from viewers after her appearance on Saturday night's Britain's Got Talent.

Not for the first or even second time this series, the ITV show has faced criticism from some fans over an act's audition being 'stopped' by Simon Cowell, only for them then be given a second chance.

It happened with mother/daughter duo Honey and Sammy who had their audition halted by Simon, with him telling them he didn't like their song choice.

They were given the opportunity to come back later on in the day and ended up getting the Golden Buzzer from Amanda Holden after she was moved to tears by their version of Freya Ridings' Lost Without You.

And, while they didn't get the Golden Buzzer, there was very similar outcome for Soldiers of Swing a few weeks later when Simon initially brought their audition to a premature end, before letting them sing another song, which was enough to earn them a place in the lost round.

Viewers lashed out at BGT after that, saying it was completely staged and after her Souparnika Nair' s audition aired on Saturday night, the show has now faced fresh claims.

The 10-year-old performed a rendition of Judy Garland classic The Trolley Song, from musical Meet Me in St Louis.

But, while his fellow judges Alesha Dixon and David Walliams were tapping and singing along, Simon was left less than impressed and after asking his colleagues if he could stop the song, decided to do exactly that.

Soparnika then got a reprieve when he asked her to sing Never Enough from The Greatest Showman, which sparked a very different reaction from Simon and was enough to see her through.

And viewers smelt a rat. One tweeted: "Oooh a second song nice little bit of set up there," and another reacted: "Doing the old scripted "have you got a second song" ploy on a 10-year-old.

A third posted: "If anyone thinks that is not a set up, try and recall when the "second" song has ever been worse than the first after Simon has called for it."

But there were plenty who agreed Soparnika definitely deserved to get through, with another tweeting: "She has good technique. With the right coaching she will be great."
