Britain's Got Talent's Souparnika Nair has audition halted by Simon Cowell but it didn't end there

Simon Cowell was booed by large parts of the Britain's Got Talent audience as he halted a 10-year-old's audition.

Souparnika Nair is one of the acts in action on Saturday night's show, along with escapologist Christian Wedoy. Their auditions were filmed earlier this year before the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK and both proved to be rather dramatic.

Ten-year-old Souparnika aims to impress the judges with a rendition of Judy Garland classic The Trolley Song, from musical Meet Me in St Louis.

But, while his fellow judges Alesha Dixon and David Walliams were tapping and singing along, Simon was left less than impressed and after asking his colleagues if he could stop the song, decided to do exactly that.

His way of bringing the youngster's audition to an abrupt end did not go down well with people in the audience, with a chorus of booed echoing out around the room.

He told her: "It's the song that if David ever released a single, that's what it would be. And I couldn't get that out of my head."

Looking at her song list, Simon then asked Souparnika to sing Never Enough from The Greatest Showman. To see how that worked out for her, you'll need to tune into BGT at 8pm on ITV on Saturday night.
