Britain's Got Talent's oldest finalist Colin Thackery, 89, will 'die happy' if he wins

Britain's Got Talent contestant Colin Thackery has sweetly opened up about just how much he wants to win tomorrow's live final.

The 89-year-old left the public bowled over with his semi-final performance of Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again and flew straight through to the final.

And speaking ahead of his big performance on Sunday, the former Royal Artillery soldier and grandfather of four said that he would "die happy" if he took the crown.

Claiming he would be thinking about his late wife Joan while on stage, Colin told The Sun : “I know Joan would have been very proud of me. She had a very fine alto voice and we would sing together all the time.

Joan sadly died in 2016, after having been married to Colin for 66 years.

The popular contestant still regularly sings to her pictures, and remembers their time together fondly.

Speaking about how honoured he would be to perform at the Royal Variety Show, Colin added: “I served my Queen for 25 years, so if I thought I would have the chance to sing to her, I would die a happy man.

"It is very difficult for me to put into words how much it would mean. I cannot even imagine being on that stage in the presence of royalty. It would be absolutely marvellous.
