Britain's Got Talent's Magical Bones shocks fans by exposing his own trick on stage

Britain's Got Talent viewers were left stunned on Saturday night when the most talked about act from the third semi-final exposed the secrets of his own trick on stage.

After blowing everyone away with his audition, Magical Bones was back in action and vying for a place in the final as he once again used the story of slave turned acclaimed magic act Henry Box Brown as his inspiration.

Using Henry's life to mirror his own journey, the magician, real name Richard Essien, spoke about how he had been separated by his own partner and child, who were in Canada.

After surprising the judges, the virtual audience of fans and millions of Britain's Got Talent viewers at home with his en pointe dance moves at the start of his performance, he went on to replicate Henry's classic trick - The Great Door Mystery.

As the judges looked on unsure at what was going to happen, Richard opened up both of the doors to show no-one was inside - before closing them and opening again to reveal his assistant Katie standing there.

However, then came the first big unexpected moment of his performance when Richard revealed the secret of how the illusion was done.

Taking the judges and viewers behind the scenes to show the tricks of the trade, Richard switched the box back round to show how he had opened the doors, which his assistant hid behind as he showed that no one was in there.

His assistant Katie was seen using the secret door inside, which she used to switch around to step back into the box.

Richard announced: "And that's how you make a girl appear from nowhere."

But, the 'behind the scenes' insight into how the trick was actually a deliberate ruse to disguise the routine's biggest reveal - the fact that, despite it looking like she was watching the magic unfold from her home in Canada, Richard's girlfriend Mel was actually on stage.

And all of the judges sat open mouthed as she jumped out of the box after Richard has turned to the screen and said to her: "Mel, let's try something really magical."

Magical Bones' jaw-dropping performance served him very well as the judges chose him as the act to send straight through to the the final, ahead of other viewer favourites like Sign Along With Us Choir and blind singer Sirine Jahangir.
