Britain's Got Talent postponed due to lockdown making filming 'not viable'

Britain's Got Talent has been postponed, ITV has confirmed.

The talent show was due to begin filming its audition stages later this month.

This usually sees the BGT cast and crew travel to audition acts in London and Manchester.

Following the Christmas special judge Amanda Holden said auditions were still due to go ahead and Simon Cowell was expected to make a return after missing much of the previous series.

However, the new national lockdown has made it 'not viable' for filming to take place.

An ITV spokesperson said: "The filming for the 15th series of Britain's Got Talent has been postponed from its proposed record dates in late January.

"With the announcement of the latest Government health guidelines and with our priority of safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved in our programmes we, together with the production teams at Thames and Syco, have taken the decision to move the record and broadcast of the forthcoming series."

The spokesperson added: "We will confirm revised dates in due course."
