Britain's Got Talent pay row erupts as Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon 'stand firm'

It's being reported that Britain's Got Talent judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon are allegedly refusing to sign their contracts over a pay dispute.

They're said to be unhappy that new judge Bruno Tonioli will receive the same wage as them - which is believed to be £850,000.

Filming for the new series is due to begin on Tuesday, but it looks like that could be thrown into disarray if an agreement with Amanda and Alesha isn't reached by then.

A TV insider has said that both women are raging that Bruno will walk into his first stint on the popular ITV programme and be handed the same wage packet, reports The Mirror.

A source told The Sun: "It's a bit of a headache for BGT given filming for the next series begins at the London Palladium on Tuesday. Bruno was still ironing out his contract on Friday too so it’s all very much down to the wire.

"After learning that Bruno was to be getting the same pay, they decided to hold off and stand firm.

"Initially there was a seven-figure pay deal on the table for Bruno but this was lowered over fears of a backlash — and now them getting the same figure has caused a rift."

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge will replace David Walliams who quit the show last year after he made derogatory remarks about one of the contestants in unaired scenes.

In a statement last November, David said: "I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain's Got Talent in 2020.

"These were private conversations and - like most conversations with friends - were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry."
