Britain's Got Talent panel stunned by 21-year-old singer Imen Siar

This year’s Britain’s Got Talent auditions came to a typically eclectic and triumphant close on Saturday night.

The episode saw a number of acts impress the judges - Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams - including singer Imen Siar.

Arriving on stage, the 21-year-old, from Croydon, told the panel that her “dream is to inspire the Muslim girls in my community.”

She also revealed that she was hoping her audition would impress her dad - who had no idea she was trying out.

"The thing I like most about singing is I can feel all sorts of freedom when I'm doing it," Siar said. "Today I'm going to show him this is what I want to do in my life."

The budding singer then delivered a spellbinding rendition of Alessia Cara’s Scars To Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara.

Congratulating Siar on an amazing audition, Cowell told her: “You just made that song your version.”

“You have a great energy about you and you’re very humble and this is one of those auditions that I’m going to remember and I do believe there is more to come from you,” he added.

Alesha Dixon added: "I know this is a big deal. This means more than you can express right now and believe me we felt it. I love this humility about you, it's gorgeous."

David Walliams then told Siar she has a “beautiful voice,” adding: “That was a very special performance. I think you did yourself so proud."

Following praise from Amanda Holden, the 21-year-old received four yeses.

The episode also saw a magician, who performed an unexpectedly emotional trick with his mobile phone, and a Whitney Houston tribute singer make it through to the next round.

This year’s live semi-finals will take place later this year, having been postponed amid the coronavirus crisis.
