Britain's Got Talent magician 'exposed' as viewers recognise trick from a movie

Britain's Got Talent viewers have 'exposed' a magician on tonight's show after recognising his trick from a movie.

Ben Hart, who is a Gold Star Member of the Inner Magic Circle, wowed the audience during his impressive performance.

The illusionist got four big 'yeses' from the stunned judges, who transformed a piece of confetti into an egg before cracking it in front of their eyes.

For his second trick, Ben threw a paper plane into the crowd, then got the nearest audience member to put a mark on a seating plan of the theatre without looking.

Ben then grabbed random audience member Annika from the corresponding seat and brought her up on stage.

Annika was put in one of two identical cages, which were connected with a tesla coil.

After shutting her in the cage, Ben completed the circuit and the curtain fell down.

When it came back up a few seconds later, Annika had been transported from one cage to the other.

Some Britain's Got Talent viewers believe they know how the trick was done - and it featured in Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman blockbuster The Prestige.

Taking to Twitter , one fan asked: "Isn't this The Prestige?"

"Obviously twins from the audience. But the egg thing was good." added another.

A third joked: "Twin #1 was better than twin #2....."

"That #Annika was definitely in on that magic/illusion act from the magician #BenHart #BGT so fake when she come out the cage on other side & her hair was different definitely a twin or something," said a fourth.

The judges couldn't work out how he teleported a random audience member across the stage.

David Walliams turned to face Simon Cowell and admitted his fellow judge looked "very confused".

Baffled Simon said: "That was unbelievable. The egg and that and that. Unbelievable."

Alesha Dixon said: "I love to hate these kind of acts. That's done my head in."

While Amanda Holden added: "I kind of love this air of mystery and Victorian vibe I'm getting. You have great showmanship, charm and charisma."
