Britain's Got Talent magician 'exposed' after viewers recognise trick from film

A magician who featured on Britain's Got Talent has been exposed after viewers recognised his trick from a film.

Ben Hart wowed the audience and impressed the judges during a mesmerising performance on the ITV show.

During his first trick, he transformed a piece of confetti into an egg before cracking it in front of the judge's eyes.

He followed up by throwing a paper plane into the crowd, then got the nearest audience member to put a mark on a seating plan of the theatre without looking, reports Devon Live .

The magician then grabbed random audience member Annika from the corresponding seat and brought her up on stage.

Annika was put in one of two identical cages, which were connected with a tesla coil.

After shutting her in the cage, Ben completed the circuit and the curtain fell down.

When it came back up a few seconds later, Annika had been transported from one cage to the other.

But some Britain's Got Talent viewers believe they know how the trick was done after recognising it from blockbuster The Prestige.

One fan asked on Twitter: "Isn't this The Prestige?"

"Obviously twins from the audience. But the egg thing was good." added another.

A third joked: "Twin #1 was better than twin #2....."

The judges couldn't work out how he teleported a random audience member across the stage.

David Walliams turned to face Simon Cowell and admitted his fellow judge looked "very confused".

Baffled Simon said: "That was unbelievable. The egg and that. Unbelievable."

In other TV news, ITV viewers were left confused after Dickinson's Real Deal was broadcast instead of today's episode of Jeremy Kyle (May 13).

Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturdays on ITV at 8pm.
