Britain's Got Talent judges surprised as Paul Potts fails to make it to the final

He won the first ever series of BGT so judges on Britain's Got Talent: The Champions were shocked when classical singer Paul Potts failed to make it through to the final.

Paul, who returned to the stage for the champion of champions showdown 12 years on, was left out of a top three of acts chosen by the audience in the first episode.

Head judge Simon Cowell was open-mouthed in amazement and Amanda Holden also looked shocked, asking her fellow judges Simon, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon: "What about Paul Potts?"

The revamped format of the hit talent show sees previous favourites from the UK and the BGT franchise from across the world battle it out in each episode over the next six weeks to be crowned the ultimate champion.

Sand artist Kseniya Simonova from the Ukraine and American daredevil father and daughter Bello and Annaliese Nock were the first two acts to make it through to the final of the spin-off.

Other contestants to feature tonight include Connie Talbot, Ashleigh and Sully and Boogie Storm.

Judge Amanda Holden was moved to tears by Kseniya, who works with children with cancer, and she hit the golden buzzer to send her through to the final.

The second act is then decided by 'super fans' in the studio audience at Wembley Arena.

Dog act duo Ashleigh and Sully, dancing Stormtroopers Boogie Storm and Bello and Annaliese Nock were revealed as the audience's favourites.
But only Bello and Annaliese will join the sand artist in the final.
