Britain's Got Talent judges amazed as Spider-Man showcases real-life powers

Next time Felix Clements web-slings into a children’s party their spidey senses might tell them they’ve seen him somewhere before...

Because the Spider-Man kids’ entertainer will be doing whatever a spider can on Britain’s Got Talent tomorrow night with his contemporary dance routine.

The PE teacher’s inspiration this weekend won’t be his usual superhero alter-ego – but 2008 BGT winner George Sampson.

Felix, 25, found his rhythm aged 11 in primary school clubs around the time George came to public attention on the show.

But it wasn’t until a year or so later in a secondary school show that he went public with his talent – and his schoolmates loved it.

Felix from Earley, Berks, says: “I went for it. I did a mix of comedy and lots of flips and tricks.

“George Sampson was a big star then and the whole school seemed to take to it. After that I was The Dancer Kid and quite popular for about two weeks!”

To his great joy he was even compared to superstar street dancer George.

As a teenager he loved to join dance battles on the streets of Reading, and he continued to develop his talent as he went on to study to become a teacher.

So when he landed his job at Woodcote Primary School in Berkshire he started running after-school dance clubs of his own.

There he teaches kids aged five to 11, and says: “I really want to inspire the kids, show them that they can reach their dreams if they keep at it and keep trying. I just love the joy on their faces when they dance, like I had.”

Felix always dreamed of appearing on BGT like his hero George, and finally sent in a YouTube link of him performing to This City by Sam Fischer. He says: “I was in a really good place with my job and I wanted to show the kids that they could really follow their dreams.

“And then BGT got back in touch to say they couldn’t stop watching the YouTube!”

He was invited to the audition and tomorrow his pupils can watch as he dances to music by The X Factor star Lucy Spraggan.

Felix is modest, though, saying: “I could only hope to have the success George Sampson has. He’s a massive inspiration to me.”

Britain’s Got Talent, ITV, Sunday night, 7.40pm
