Britain's Got Talent hit with more Ofcom complaints following latest episode

Britain's Got Talent's return to screens has been far from quiet in recent weeks.

The ITV show was subject to more than 20,000 complaints following a performance from dance group Diversity during the first semi-final earlier this month.

Ashley Banjo, who is currently a judge on the programme, and his troupe performed a powerful Black Lives Matter routine on the show a little over two weeks ago.

The dance was accused by viewers of taking a political stance during a family entertainment show.

But ITV defended its decision to screen the performance on BGT and Ofcom chose to not investigate further.

Now, more complaints have been made to the broadcasting watchdog following the most recent episode.

A necklace worn by judge Alesha Dixon sparked new controversy on Saturday when the 41-year-old appeared in the pre-recorded semi-final show in a bright yellow dress worn with chunky gold pendants spelling out BLM.

There was a flood of love for her statement necklace, but some viewers took to social media to complain - as well as to Ofcom.

A total of 1,901 complaints were made following Saturday's show with the majority in regards to Alesha's jewellery.

Ofcom said: "We are assessing the complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate."

Following the episode, Alesha was applauded by fans as she posted a defiant video in defence of her statement necklace.

She had also said earlier: "Thank you for the positive comments and to those that lead with love I see you!"

Britain's Got Talent continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
