Britain's Got Talent halt filming Christmas special after positive coronavirus result

Britain's Got Talent has had to halt filming its Christmas special due to a positive coronavirus result.

Filming was due to being on the ITV show which is set to air at the end of the year.

The BGT Christmas special is expected to feature some of the show's most successful acts who will compete together for the first time to impress the audience.

A Britain's Got Talent spokesperson said in a statement: "As a result of a positive Covid-19 result received yesterday we have implemented our protocols and a number of crew members are self-isolating at home.

"As a result, we are unable to continue filming our BGT Christmas Special today and have taken the decision to postpone.

"The safety of all those involved in the show is our number one priority and we follow extensive Covid-19 related procedures to adhere to all Government guidelines."

It comes after the BGT 2020 series wrapped up on Saturday night.

The talent competition usually comes to an end in May but was pushed back due to the coronavirus lockdown.

Instead, the semi-final shows were pre-recorded and aired over five weeks before Saturday's grand finale.
