Britain's Got Talent Golden Buzzer divides viewers as fans annoyed at 'predictable' moment

Britain's Got Talent viewers were treated to a heartwarming Golden Buzzer moment last night - but not everyone was won over by the situation. Saturday night's show (April 22) featured an audition from Chickenshed theatre group which brought the judges to their feet.

The group's song and dance routine to Wonder by Naughty Boy featuring Emeli Sande was enough to bring all four judges to their feet. Alesha Dixon was even moved enough by the performance to slam the Golden Buzzer and putting the troupe straight through to the live semi-finals, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

Universal praise followed from judges Dixon, Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Bruno Tonioli, with Simon saying of Alesha's choice to hit the Golden Buzzer: "That's what it is for."

Chickenshed, a theatre company which welcomes anyone and is fully inclusive, introduced themselves and explained that they were a group who would be performing a singing and dancing routine. Alesha Dixon choked back tears as she addressed the group after the performance, saying she "loved every single thing that you stand for".

She said: "“I love every single thing that you stand for and that you represent, inclusivity is so important, everybody feeling represented, and you do that in abundance. You’re giving young people this incredible opportunity and platform and honestly, I don’t know what else is more important than that.”

Simon Cowell said: "I've known about Chickenshed for a long time and I've always wondered when is the year you're going to come on Britain's Got Talent and this performance summed up everything you do. This really, really, really, really is a golden buzzer audition, that's what it is for."

The audience in the London Palladium were certainly on-side with the decision, with plenty of viewers at home also expressing their admiration for the group and applauding the decision from the judges.

One fan tweeted: "Awwww love #ChickenShed YES! To inclusion , YES! to theatre YES to empowerment. so! powerful ! this is what it’s about !!!"

However, it appears that not everybody was as won over. Some dubbed the group's performance as "overproduced" and called the moment "predictable".

One fan tweeted: "The most predictable golden buzzer in the history of golden buzzer." While another said: "overproduced.

"BGT ruining another #goldenbuzzer moment with this slow-mo nonsense in the edit. Fed up with this overproduced nonsense taking the raw emotion out of the moment," one fumed.

And another said: "Someone please explain to me how ChickenShed gets a golden buzzer but Enzo doesn't?"
