A Britain's Got Talent golden buzzer act has addressed his relationship with Alesha Dixon friendship following viewer 'outrage' over the weekend.
Comedian Kojo Amin had the judges on their feet following his stand-up performance on Saturday's show but it was Simon Cowell who was left surprised who, after admitting he isn't usually a fan of comedy routines, hit his golden buzzer sending him straight through to the semi-final.
But despite a great routine, the 39-year-old faced viewer backlash when they branded his role on the show a 'fix' over his history with BGT judge Alesha.
Speaking on Monday's ITV Lorraine programme, hosted by Christine Lampard, Kojo said: "I actually know Alesha's partner. That's how I actually know Alesha.
"When I was coming up, he was a dancer and we were in a lot of talent shows together. So when they got together I was like, 'wow, you're with Alesha Dixon, mate, you've come up in the world.'"
He then added: "I don't have her number to say I'm going to be on the show. I literally went on there, humbled myself.
"Honestly, this is an opportunity not that I want but I needed to take my little fan base to a whole new level, and to meet people like yourself, and to show the world where I've come from."
When Kojo appeared on at the auditions, a surprised Alesha said: "Oh my goodness, hello. I was not expecting to see you today," before adding "I have known Kojo for many, many years."
However, following his golden buzzer success, viewers claimed that his supposed relationship with the former Mis-Teeq star helped him sail through his audition.
One commented: "Golden buzzer from @ SimonCowell on # BGT for alesha dixon's mate... hmmm. Does that not stink of a fix, he was ok as an act but not the best of the night in my opinion."
Another said: "Too obvious if Alesha hit the buzzer for her mate, so Simon does it for her #fix."
