Britain's Got Talent 'death' fall terrifies viewers

Britain's Got Talent viewers were left terrified when a man appeared to plunge to his death on tonight's show.

As part of magician Matt Stirling's thrilling act, a heckling man looked to have fallen from a theatre box from a great height with a thud.

With a warning of 'do not try this at home' a man shouted at Matt from the balcony before he was told to 'sleep' by the stuntman who has worked on Hollywood blockbusters including The Bourne Ultimatum.

He then appeared to fall motionless to the ground as the audience screamed.

The act saw Matt correctly guess films that the judges had picked out - and the 'falling' man stunt represented the 007 film Skyfall.

"This is brilliant," praised host Ant McPartlin from the side of the stage as co-host Declan Donnelly looked on open-mouthed.

"It's like a blockbuster movie."

"Simon, what was the name of your film?" Matt asked judge Simon Cowell.

"Skyfall," he replied as fellow judge Amanda Holden gasped "oh my god."

"What the hell was that someone just threw themselves off a balcony," tweeted one BGT fan in disbelief at what they had just seen.

"Hahaha wow!! that was brilliant.... the man falling from up top #scary" said another viewer.

"Impressed by the guy falling from the balcony!" commented another about the trick.

Matt also ramped up the drama when he had a man appearing to be on fire walk across the stage as Amanda Holden chose the film Man On Fire.
