Britain's Got Talent confirms return date and announces new spin-off show

Britain's Got Talent is returning.

The competition will air on ITV on Easter Saturday, which is April 11.

BGT making a comeback might surprise some people as ITV has made huge changes to its schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Soaps have stopped filming and the live semi-finals and final of The Voice UK have been postponed.

However, due to the fact Britain's Got Talent's audition shows are pre-recorded they'll still be going ahead while the live finals will broadcast later in the year.

An ITV spokesman said: "The Britain's Got Talent audition shows will broadcast on ITV in the next few weeks.

"We have been working with the brilliant production teams at Thames and Syco to find a way of making the live finals work, which were due to be broadcast at the end of May.

"However, in light of the latest government health guidelines and in line with our priority of safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved in our programmes, production of the live shows cannot go ahead as planned.

"The live finals will therefore be broadcast later in the year."

Britain’s Got Talent: Unseen will launch straight after the show on Easter Saturday.

The brand new BGT spin-off will feature great unseen auditions, as well as extras from Ant and Dec and unseen comments from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

Global Head Of TV, Syco Entertainment, Nigel Hall said: "During these tough times we are determined to deliver entertainment all the family can enjoy. We are confident Britain’s Got Talent: Unseen will be perfect for that and the ideal accompaniment to the main series."

Britain’s Got Talent: Unseen will air straight after Britain’s Got Talent on the ITV Hub, which premieres on Saturday April 11 at 8pm.
