Britain's Got Talent child star Hollie Steel unrecognisable 13 years after the show

Britain's Got Talent young star Hollie Steel is unrecognisable 13 years after she came sixth on the show.

Hollie, who was just 10 when she sang her heart out to the nation, is now 23 and performs on curse ships.

She won over Simon Cowell on the 2009 where she sang Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera.

Although in the semi-final the youngster forgot the words to her song and burst into tears during the live show.

This led Bruce Forsyth to speak against children competing in the show.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: "But I really do think he should stop putting young children under the immense and possibly damaging pressure of performing on national television, not just in front of a live audience, but also before four very sharp judges."

(Ken McKay / Rex Features)

“You can see that many of the adult performers find the experience traumatic, so what sort of emotional damage could it be doing to children who, for the most part, are only there because of the ambition of their parents and teachers?”

After the show she self-released three albums and in 2011 she starred as Louisa von Trapp in the musical The Sound of Music.
