Britain's Got Talent blind singer Sirine Jahangir stuns Simon Cowell and has viewers in tears

Simon Cowell was left in shock during the Britain's Got Talent auditions when a blind singer told him she 'never forgot' his face and her powerful audition had viewers at home in tears.

Despite all the Golden Buzzers now being pressed for this year, the new series returned for another episode on Saturday night.

Last weekend's show was rubbished by many viewers, who dubbed it the 'worst so far' and some also disagreed with Alesha Dixon's choice of Golden Buzzer act - comedian Nabil Abdulrashid.

And then came the fix controversy sparked by Soldiers of Swing and their 'second song'.

The most memorable audition of Saturday night's Britain's Got Talent came from blind singer Sirine Jahangir.

Sirine, 14, went blind at the age of 9, but shocked Simon by telling him she remembered what he looked like, joking "I remember watching Simon on television and thinking he looked scary. It sounds like he’s quite different now, he’s definitely nicer.”

Tears as BGT dog act's tragic past is revealed

Talking about going blind, Sirine explained: "When I lost my sight, I like to think I got new gifts. I used to like dancing, but when I became blind I spent more time singing and playing piano.

“So although I was trembling with nerves when my dad walked me on the BGT stage, I just hope I can prove to other visually impaired people they don’t need to give up their dreams.”

Viewers at home were blown away by Sirine's performance of Salvation’ by Gabrielle Aplin and moved by her story, as her brother was left sobbing in the audience.

One twerted: "Sirine on @BGT what an inspiration love you had me in tears," and tipping her for great things, another fan reacted: "And the WINNER of #BGT is Sirine Jahinger."

Wiping away the tears, a third posted: "Sirine, you are a beautiful, brave and talented young lady, good luck."
