Britain's Got Talent audition horror after act almost drowns live onstage

Simon Cowell has reportedly threatened to pull the plug on Britain's Got Talent auditions after a dangerous act turned into a horror show..

During auditions in Manchester on Monday, the BGT supremo was left panicked after an act went wrong, leading him to almost bring an end to proceedings.

The magic trick was a complicated illusion involving all four judges, with Simon, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden all on hand to help an escapologist.

They were reportedly presented with instruments and keys that would help the act escape after being submerged in water.

The plan was that the keys would be eliminated by the illusionist, with one being the keys that would have set him free.

Problems arose though after David was not asked for his key by the illusionists assistant and the act took a potentially fatal turn as that was the key that could free the performer.

With the key left on the judges table, the handcuffed performer started struggling to breathe.

Speaking to Metro, a source said what unfolded was "horrible."

The source continued to say: "David looked absolutely mortified as Simon started trying to signal producers to stop production and a medic was called in."

From what 'looked part of the act' soon became an actual emergency with people in the audience realising that this could be a difficult situation.

The source continued: "That this was a real problem that threatened their safety.

"Thankfully they were able to correct themselves but there was a real moment where we thought it could end in disaster and it was clear everyone was beginning to panic."

The ITV talent show has seen a number of bizarre acts audition for the judges, which has left Simon questioning the viability of some of the performers, as they risk life and limb in pursuit of a place in the live shows.
