Britain's Got Talent 2020 winner crowned as singer Jon Courtenay

Britain's Got Talent 's 2020 winner has been crowned as Jon Courtenay, a comic singer who was Ant and Dec's Golden Buzzer act.

Jon beat nine other acts in the spectacular final that aired on ITV on Saturday night, with choir Sign Along With Us coming in second and comedian and entertainer Steve Royle third.

Asked how he felt, Jon stammered: "I was trying not to think about it, because I am really bad at hiding disappointment,

"This morning for the first time, this sounds really dramatic, but I woke up with an idea for a song for the Royal Variety performance.

"I wrote it down and I tried not to think of it as a sign, because that would be too much pressure, but... Just amazing, I can't actually believe it," he gushed.

"Thank you, this has changed my life and my family's life," he added.

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly made the announcement that the final three acts were Sign Along With Us, Steve Royle, and Jon Courtenay.

Five of the finalists were chosen by public vote: Father and son magic duo James and Dylan Piper; magician Damien O’Brien; choir Sign Along with Us; and magicians Jasper Cherry and Aidan McCann.

And five others were chosen by the judges: Steve Royle, steamy dance duo Aaron and Jasmine, comedian Nabil Abdulrashid, whose routine poking fun at racists sparked outrage last week, Jon Courtenay and magician Magical Bones.

All of the acts had already pre-recorded their performances last night for safety reasons as the show was forced to make changes due to COVID-19.

The show finally addressed the complaints over Diversity's Black Lives Matter routine.

Nabil had faced his own backlash after joking about racism the previous week, but made a defiant return poking fun at the moaners.

Addressing the complaints over Diversity's routine, he joked that racists had written hundreds of letters to Ofcom - but he was just surprised they could write.

Ashley Banjo addressed the backlash to Diversity's performance, saying: "I know what it's like to get a few complaints!

"There are two ways you can react, you can bend to pressure or you can be unapologetically yourself," he said.

"It's not even about being black, it's about being unapologetically you."
