Britain's Got Talent 2020 winner crowned as Jon Courtenay

The winner of Britain's Got Talent is Jon Courtenay after being crowned by hosts Ant and Dec.

Jon won over the hearts of viewers with his witty songs about lockdown and the impact coronavirus has had on all our lives.

As he was crowned winner Jon said: "Don't make me speak, look at me I'm shaking.

"I've tried not to think about it as I'm bad at hiding disappointment.

"But this morning I woke up with a song for the Royal Variety performance."

Jon was Ant and Dec's Golden Buzzer act and the pair were thrilled for him.

Jon wins £250,000 and will perform at the Royal Variety Show.

Earlier in the final comedian Nabil Abdul Rashid defied his critics with his performance.

Nabil received over 800 complaints last week for his semi final act which centred around race.

Tonight Nabil continued on the same theme and even poked fun at the criticism he'd faced.

He started his routine by saying: "I got a lot of complaints, I was shocked that many of them knew how to write."

His performance continued in the same vein as he urged people to vote for him to make him a black winner of the talent show.

Nabil ended his routine and said: "You know what they say when you go black you don't go back, once you try Nigeria, no one can meet the criteria!"

The judges applauded his routine and Ashley Banjo paid him a special compliment, after he too had been hit with complaints for Diversity's Black Lives Matter inspired dance routine.

Ashley said: "I know what it's like to get a few complaints." Amanda quickly added: "So do I."

Ashley continued: "I'm proud that you've had this chance and you haven't bowed to the pressure."

Tonight's final also saw Amanda bow to pressure as she wore a much more demure outfit.

Amanda, 49, has come under fire from the public after wearing racy outfits for the semi-finals.

The head judge received hundreds of Ofcom complaints after wearing a low cut midnight blue dress with a leg split.

Last week Amanda wore a dress with a black lacy corset visible which also had a leg split.

In previous years Amanda has worn a remarkable outfit for the final, but tonight she covered up, in an apparent effort to silence her critics.

Tonight Amanda wore a gold dress with an asymmetrical neckline, the dress did have a leg split, but it was much more demure than her previous outfits.
