Britain's Got (half as much) Talent – in prize money

Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell may be convinced that Britain's Got Talent – but it seems he thinks this year's intake is only likely to be about about half as good as Ashleigh and Pudsey who scooped the 2012 title. The grand prize has been halved – from £500,000 to £250,000 – with ITV bosses claiming the half million was a one-year-only jackpot, reports the Sun. Cowell put up half the prize money last year – to boost interest after a lacklustre 2011 series – but he has kept the purse strings firmly tied this year.
