Britain's dirtiest kitten found in bin lorry finally finds home after makeover

Britain's dirtiest kitten - who has been named Scruffy - has now found his forever home after being given an astonishing makeover.

The loveable feline was found as a stowaway in a rubbish truck before he was treated at an animal sanctuary.

A heartbreaking snap shows the grime-covered kitty when he was handed in at an animal shelter.

But the alley cat got lucky after being given a good clean and looks unrecognisable.

And it has bagged Scruffy a new family.

The black and white moggy looks like a new cat after the paw-fect makeover.

A spokesman for Newcastle Cat and Dog Sanctuary said: "We first met Scruffy after he decided to take a ride in a garbage van.

"Luckily the driver spotted his little stowaway and brought him to us.

"And you can see why we gave him the name Scruffy."

They added: "Scruffy is now living a pampered life with his new family after being adopted in December.

"Thank you so much to Lisa and family for turning this little scruff into a pampered prince."

And animal-lovers had kittens after reading of Scruffy's changed fortunes on social media.

Anne Wilson-Cotton cooed: "What a darling."

Christine Stone added: "He's adorable, thank you kind people for adopting him."

Jane Roberts added: "Look at those fabulous whiskers!"
