Brit ISIS Beatle to avoid toughest prison in US 'Alcatraz of the Rockies' when sentenced

A confessed member of the murderous ISIS Beatles is to avoid being sent to America’s toughest prison known as the Alcatraz of the Rockies when he is sentenced tomorrow.

Brit Alexanda Kotey will avoid supermax prison ADX Florence following the co-operation he has provided his US captors.

The judge in his case has agreed to a defence motion to send the 37-year-old to a lesser secure prison and to avoid solitary confinement to help protect his “mental and physical” health.

Kotey was extradited to the States last year over accusations he helped jail and torture Western hostages.

He was flown to the U.S. after prosecutors assured the U.K. Government he would not be executed if found guilty.

In a handwritten submission to the court, Kotey has accepted full responsibility for all of his decisions and actions while helping to detain numerous western hostages some of whom were later beheaded.

Unless America's Bureau of Prisons objects to Judge Thomas Ellis's order and "strong recommendation" within 30 days, the Brit will be sent to a medium-security facility which offers education classes.

Earlier this month, Kotey’s fellow Beatle El Shafee Elsheikh was found guilty in the US of being part of the Islamic State terrorist cell responsible for the deaths of aid workers and journalists.

He has refused to plead guilty and opted for a trial instead.

Elsheikh was convicted after four hours of deliberations on eight charges, including four counts of hostage-taking resulting in death, murder conspiracy and conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organisation.

He will now face dying in ADX Florence in solitary confinement when he is sentenced later this summer.

The super-maximum prison houses some of the world's most dangerous men, including British shoe bomber Richard Reid, drug lord El Chapo and hook-handed cleric Abu Hamza.
