Brit couple slam 5-star TUI 's***hole' with 'soiled towels and lukewarm food'

A Brit couple claim that their five-star hotel in Turkey was a 's***hole' which had soiled sheets and lukewarm food.

Cheryl Royle and Gary Dobell had been looking forward to a romantic week away in Turkey.

They had booked a week-long stay at the Ramada Hotel in Antalaya, reports the Daily Star.

The hard-working couple, from Manchester, booked the resort with TUI and were happy to splash out £1,480 on the break.

But they say the trip got worse as it went on as they were exposed to a dirty room, greasy food and soiled towels.

Cheryl tried to move rooms but she was laughed at and says she was told another room 'couldn't magically appear'.

Speaking to Daily Star Online, Cheryl said: "It was diabolical.

"We had booked the Ramada Hotel because it looked like a really nice five-star resort on the website.

"But when we arrived, the hotel was nice but everything else was diabolical... it was vile.

"I've been on five star holidays before and I expected that kind of calibre again but this was far from it.

"As soon as we got there we weren't happy, it was quite late at night but we could see it was filthy.

"If you looked at the room with the naked eye you thought it was okay but when you looked closer it was vile.

"We put our bags down in the room and tried to speak to a receptionist there and then but she informed us nothing could be done as the hotel was fully booked and there wasn't a way we could change rooms.

"Gary said we should grab a drink and sort it out in the morning so that's what we did but the next day we had the same problem so we decided to speak to a TUI rep.

In a bid to make the most of their holiday, Cheryl and Gary tried to put the state of the room behind them.

But things worsened when the couple went to dinner and found food drenched in grease.

The 50-year-old said: "The food was awful - it was generally very greasy and lukewarm.

"You would find some evenings there would be sprouts and the next day it would be put in the salads!

"The food was swimming in grease and the majority of it was inedible.

"You could tell the staff were unhappy as well, they looked sad and downtrodden."

As the week went on the couple tried to see the funny side and took a sad picture outside the resort aimed at reflecting their time at the Ramada.

The 50-year-old and her partner were once again left feeling disgusted after cleaners delivered them poo-stained sheets.

Cheryl said: "One of the days the cleaners served us with towels and it had poo on it.

"I went down to reception and was served with dirty towels - they did then send up clean ones but it shouldn't have happened in the first place."

Gary and Cheryl also claim the pool wasn't cleaned for the entire time that they were there.

She said: "On one afternoon my boyfriend lost his ring and I asked the reception to let us known when the pool had been cleaned and they said they would once it had been.

"I went back nearly every day that I was there, this happened on the third day and I went every day three times a day and the entire time I was there the pool wasn't cleaned.

"I just feel as though it was a complete s***hole - it was a s*** pit and TUI didn't give a clear indication of what the hotel was - it wasn't for couples.

TUI said they were sorry to hear of the couple's complaints (stock photo) (Getty Images)

"It was for families and it felt like the room and the whole experience was more of a two star holiday."

A TUI UK spokesman: “We are sorry to hear that Mrs Royle had a bad holiday experience in Turkey.

“We would advise all customers speak to their rep in resort or our 24 hour Guest Experience Centre if they face any issues.

“This way we are able to look to resolve any issues there and then. We will be making contact with the customer to discuss her issues.”
