The 2020 Brit Awards nominations have been announced - and it looks like Lewis Capaldi should put the champagne on ice.
The Scottish singer has been nominated for four accolades, including the highly-coveted Album of the Year prize, on a shortlist dominated by male acts.
Capaldi’s debut album, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, is up against Stormzy’s Heavy is the Head and Michael Kiwanuka’s Kiwanuka as well as debut releases from Dave and Harry Styles.
All five stars will also do battle in the Male Solo Artist category.
The Group of the Year award will also go to a male-led act, with Coldplay, Foals, Bring me the Horizon, D-Block Europe and Bastille making up the shortlist.
Mabel is representing female stars in the New Artist of the Year category, where she’ll battle it out against rappers Aitch and Dave, Capaldi and Brits Critics’ Choice 2019 winner Sam Fender.
Mabel was also nominated in the New Artist of the Year category in 2019.
The nominees do include more BAME acts than in previous years, following a diversity push after 2016’s all-white winners list.
A number of other changes have been brought into place ahead of this year’s ceremony, with the International Group category being axed.
