Hugh Jackman opened this year’s Brit awards ceremony by performing a hit from the musical film The Greatest Showman.
The actor, wearing a silver dinner jacket, sang the track “The Greatest Show” backed by numerous dancers and circus-themed performers – including fire-breathers.
Following the performance, host Jack Whitehall, calling Jackman “Australia’s answer to Bradley Walsh”.

Artists up for awards include Dua Lipa, who has two songs nominated for Best Single, and George Ezra who looks on track to be one of the most decorated musicians of the night. Competing for the top prize, for Best Album, are The 1975, George Ezra, Florence + the Machine, Jorja Smith and Anne-Marie.

This year’s set of nominations is largely female-led, with more women acts than men up for awards in the Best Single, Video, Breakthrough and Album categories.
There also appears to be more of an attempt to acknowledge genres other than rock and pop, reflected in nods for rapper Giggs, R&B singers Jorja Smith and Ella Mai, electronic artist Aphex Twin and jazz musician Kamasi Washington.
The Brit Awards took place at the O2 Arena in London.
