BRIT Awards date set for 2022 with music royalty to attend glitzy show in London

The BRIT Awards are returning for 2022 with organisers setting the date and gathering some of music's most famous faces for the glitzy prizegiving.

The star-studded night celebrates the achievements of British and international artists over the past year and it will take place at London's O2 Arena on February 8th 2022.

Fans will be able to get tickets to the show and those who miss out will be able to follow all the action from home as the event is broadcast on ITV.

The 2021 awards were hailed a forerunner for the return to live music in the UK following the Covid-19 pandemic and included stand-out moments from global superstars including Taylor Swift, Elton John, The Weeknd, Coldplay and Dua Lipa.

Coldplay opened the big night with an exclusive performance of their then new single ‘Higher Power.

Dua Lipa then delivered an incredible medley of her bops Again, Physical, Pretty Please and Hallucinate.

US upcoming star Olivia Rodrigo followed, treating us to her debut performance on British soil singing Drivers License.

The 2021 event was also marked as landslide for women artists, many of whom delivered powerful messages in their acceptance speeches, including Dua Lipa.

It was also a historic night as it marked the first time in the 41-year history of the Brits, that a female band - Little Mix - scooped the award for best group.

Little Mix, dedicated the award to the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud, saying they could not believe they had never won.

Organisers are promising the 2022 show will be more "innovative and interactive" than ever before under the direction of Polydor co-president Tom March.

He is taking over as Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2022 under Universal Music UK’s third year at the helm.

The BRITs, which was launched in 1977, has a mission to continue delivering an evening of live music and entertainment that has raised much of the £27million distributed to date by The BRIT Trust.
