Brit Awards 2021: Martin Compston stars in hilarious Line of Duty sketch with Jackie Weaver

The Brit Awards was a TV hit last night, as viewers tuned in to watch the awards show hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall.

Scottish actor Martin Compston opened the ceremony with Line of Duty co-star Vicky McClure with a comedy sketch nodding to the popular police drama.

Sitting on a Zoom call, Compston, who plays DSI Steve Arnott, said: “It’s time to roll out the big guns”. Whitehall responded: “Mother of God, they’re bringing out the gaffer!”

No, not Adrian Dunbar AKA Ted Hastings. The one and only Jackie Weaver joined the call.

“Right, shall we call this Brit Awards to order?” She said.

Jackie Weaver found fame after a Zoom call of a Parish Council Meeting went viral as she remained calm and collected after kicking out a councillor from the video chat.

In true Jackie Weaver fashion, she wasn’t having any nonsense with the trio.

“Who the hell are you?” Whitehall asked.

Jackie announced: "I’m your worst nightmare. Now listen up you little twerp, if you don’t get on with this then I’ll kick you off."

The Handforth Parish Council star got right down to business by introducing the opening act, who she named, “Foreplay”.

“I think it’s Coldplay?” Compston corrects her.

Jackie put the Scot back in his place, joking: “Do you want kicking off as well?!”

To which Compston sheepishly replied, “No Ma’am”.

Compston is currently staying in Edinburgh for filming and recently celebrated his birthday in the capital.

Jackie Weaver, originally from Scotland, has still loyal fans after accumulating 27k followers and was trending on Twitter after asking her followers whether she should have straight or curly hair.

Today, Jackie is celebrating her anniversary with her husband. She said on Twitter: Last night with the Brits was amazing BUT 37 years with this lovely man has been the real prize in my life. Wedding Anniversary today.

The Brit Awards also saw Lewis Capaldi take to the stage to present Dua Lipa an award for Best British Album but his speech was heavily muted by ITV due to his sweary nature.
