BRIT Awards 2021 host Jack Whitehall makes savage dig at Cheryl's marriages

BRITs host Jack Whitehall took aim at former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl as the UK welcomed back live music to the stage in the O2 Arena in London.

Jack was speaking to Este Haim about how she hijacked Liam Payne and Cheryl’s interview at the 2018 ceremony when the American singer said that her "call me" comment was actually directed towards the comedian.

He questioned: "That was to me?"

And as she replied with "are you kidding me?", the host quipped: "I thought it was to Cheryl Cole slash Fernandez-Versini slash I can't remember what she's called right now. I didn't realise that was to me."

Cheryl, whose artistic name is simply Cheryl, has had a string of high-profile relationships since rising to fame in the girl band formed on Popstars: The Rivals.

However, after her relationship with Liam Payne broke down, the Geordie singer reverted back to her maiden name Tweedy.

She shares four-year-old son Bear with the One Direction singer.

Her first well publicised relationship was with former England footballer Ashley Cole and the pair showcased their lavish wedding in 2006.

The power couple went their separate ways in 2010.

Cheryl then found love in Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini and married the Frenchman in 2014.

Unfortunately for the singer, this relationship was also doomed for failure and in 2016 the pair called it quits.

In 2018, she left Jack red-faced when she made a racing bedroom confession live on TV.

The Fight for This Love singer revealed her and Liam's "safe" word, leaving the host blushing.

And, in normal Jack Whitehall fashion this year, he made continuous digs at the celebs throughout his hosting duties.

As well as Cheryl, the Little Mix singers were also in his firing line. The presenter cheekily joked about the band's "feud" as the now-trio made history by becoming the first female group to win Best British Band.

Jesy Nelson wasn't present at the ceremony, but the remaining members of the group thanked her in their history-making BRITs speech amid their ongoing feud rumours.

Piers Morgan was also targeted by the host at the very start of the ceremony.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter has been very vocal in his criticism towards Meghan Markle.

And his opinions saw him eventually quit the morning show.

In his opening segment at the first event at the O2 Arena in over a year, Jack joked that the arena had been "emptier than Piers Morgan's diary".
