The Brit Awards 2021 has been delayed by three months as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The music awards show was scheduled to take place in February, at London’s O2 Arena, but has been postponed until May.
Organisers have said that they want “outstanding production levels, superstar performances and live excitement”, which might be limited by social distancing restrictions were the ceremony to be held in its usual Winter slot.
Geoff Taylor, the Brits’ cheif executive, said: “We believe the best way to achieve this in 2021 is to move the show back a few months to May.
“We are already at work planning a spectacular event that will remind us how important music has been in getting us through these difficult times.”
The period of eligibility for awards contention will also be altered, even though many artists have continued to release new music during the pandemic.
This year’s Brit Awards ceremony featured live performances from artists including Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi and Lizzo.
For many, the highlight of the night was Dave’s politically charged performance of “Black”, in which he branded UK prime minister Boris Johnson a “real racist”.
The English rapper took home the Mastercard Album of the Year award for his record Psychodrama.
