Brit Awards 2020: Who is Mabel's mum who won trophy 30 years ago?

Singer Mabel won at the 2020 Brit Awards and reminded the crowd that her mother had won 30 years ago to the very day.

The artist, who beat Charli XCX, FKA Twigs and others to win Best Female Solo, delivered a touching acceptance speech, in which she remembered her mother Neneh Cherry taking home the trophies for Best International Breakthrough and Best International Solo Artist a whole seven years before she was even born.

Cherry was present at the awards show, which took place at London's 02 Arena, and had earlier walked the red carpet alongside her daughter.

This year’s ceremony, which celebrated the event's 40th anniversary, was presented by Jack Whitehall.

Mabel, 23, kickstarted the evening with a performance of “Don’t Call Me Up” before winning her trophy moments later.

One of the biggest highlights was Dave adding lyrics to his song "Black", which saw him call Boris Johnson a "real racist" and criticised the UK media's treatment of Meghan Markle.

Lewis Capaldi won two awards and delivered a bizarre speech about Love Island and his grandmother while accepting the trophy for Song of the Year.

Other performers included Harry Styles, Stormzy and Billie Eilish, who sang new Bond theme No Time to Diein the track's live debut.
