Brit accused of abuse on flight from London Gatwick to Singapore faces up to 10 years in prison

A British man has been accused of threatening passengers and shoving a cabin crew member while on a flight from London to Singapore.

Steven George Harris, 62, allegedly shouted “You are Israeli, **** off, I’ll kill you” at a fellow passenger after taking off from London Gatwick on a Singapore Airlines flight on April 28.

Mr Harris was also accused of saying “it was disgusting that two races would mix” and that “Britain is not white anymore,” Singapore broadcaster Channel News Asia reported.

During the flight, Harris allegedly knocked over a member of cabin crew, having shoved him twice.

He is also accused of behaving in an insulting manner towards a second crew member by swearing at him and telling him that "you are just a glorified barman".

Harris pleaded not guilty to four charges related to the incident and his case has been adjourned until next month.

The penalties for criminal intimidation are a maximum of two years' jail or a fine, or both. If the threat is to cause death, the maximum jail term goes up to 10 years.

For causing harassment, he could be jailed for up to six months or fined up to S$5,000 (around £3,000), or both.

For behaving in an insulting or disorderly manner towards flight crew, he could be jailed for up to five years or fined up to S$100,000 (around £58,400), or both.
