Brit, 28, drowns in hotel swimming pool on first night of dream Cambodia holiday

A Brit drowned in a swimming pool during the first night of his holiday in Cambodia, an inquest has found.

The 28-year-old arrived at his in the coastal city of Sihanoukville last December, Lincolnshire Live reports .

“He had been accepted in Australia for four years and had a visa. He was over the moon and had gained sponsorship”, his dad James told an inquest into his death on Friday, May 24.

The coroner said there was a small cut near his eye, which is believed to have come from falling into the hotel pool.

The potential involvement of other people in his death was ruled out by the coroner who said that tests showed he had taken no illicit substances at the time of his death.

A post-mortem exam was carried out after Mr Blakeledge’s embalmed body was brought back to the UK.

The inquest concluded that Kieran’s death was accidental.
