Bristolians say they no longer feel safe as lockdown is eased

An overwhelming majority of Bristol Live readers have said they feel unsafe after coronavirus lockdown measures were eased this week.

Almost half of everyone who responded to a Bristol Live poll reported seeing 'lots more people' around since Wednesday.

Updated rules allow people to meet a friend in the park, go to a garden centre or play golf and tennis.

Employees can also return to work or even view a new flat or home.

Bristol Live conducted a poll after the new measures were introduced to gauge how people were feeling about the changes.

And 40 per cent responded saying they had noticed 'a lot more people out' and this left them feeling unsafe.

While 24 per cent said they had seen a 'few more people' but this had still caused anxiety.

In total, 15 per cent answered saying they had seen more residents but they still felt safe.

And just eight per cent responded saying they had not seen more people out but they felt unsafe.

It's important to remember that lots of measures are still in place including keeping the two-metre social distance and the closure of businesses such as pubs and clubs.
