Bristol woman finds 'Serbian tooth' in packet of dried mushrooms from Eastville Tesco

A Bristol woman was left shocked after unearthing a "vile" object believed to be a tooth in a meal she had made for guests

The woman, known as Fella, says the tooth, which is the size of a pound coin, came from a packet of dried mushrooms from Eastville's Tesco.

She only discovered the object once she had served the mushroom risotto to her dinner guests the following evening. And one of her horrified friends found it in the dish.

Fella says she may never be able to eat a risotto again after the grim find.

She believes the object came from within a packet of dried mushrooms that she had used in the meal, as they were the only ingredient she had not chopped beforehand.

Tesco bosses say the mushrooms are not one of chain's own products but a branded item, which was imported from Serbia.

She said: "It's vile to be honest.

"It's massive - I'd say probably about the size of a pound coin. The roots alone are about a centimetre and a half long.

"I reckon it's either from a big beast of a man or some kind of animal.

"I didn't chop the mushrooms, just soaked them and then cooked them, so I didn't find it until one of my guests went back for seconds.

"It looks a bit like a mushroom anyway so I think I just missed it.

"I might never eat again - even my sister said it put her off her own dinner when I told her over the phone."

Fella has already contacted Tesco with a formal complaint about the unwanted addition.

Tesco 'sorry' for unexpected find

Tesco responded to the find by saying it was "sorry" for the situation Fella had been placed in and encouraged her to contact the store's customer service teams for a refund.

A Tesco spokesperson said: "We’re sorry to hear about this.

"We would ask the customer to contact our customer service team so we can arrange a full refund and return the product to their nearest large store so we can pass it to the supplier for investigation."
