Bristol weather: Summer making a comeback with 20C September heat

Bristol's summer is set for one last hurrah this weekend as temperatures could reach around 18C by Sunday.

And forecasters say the mercury will continue to climb next week, when highs of 20C are expected by Tuesday.

According to the Met Office, the coming days will see Tropical Maritime air "drawn across the UK".

"It is likely to turn warm in the south-east of England where temperatures will rise into the low 20Cs, perhaps mid-20Cs in one or two spots," a spokesperson said.

"At present, this is not expected to fit the criteria for a heatwave, however, as this requires temperatures of 27C or higher in the south-east for at least three consecutive days."

Glorious sunshine is expected throughout most of Saturday in Bristol, with temperatures lingering around 18C.

Clouds will move in on Sunday, but it will remain warm for this time of year.

The hottest weather will arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday, when temperatures could peak in the low 20s.

South West forecast

Saturday:

Sunny spells on Saturday may be broken by the odd isolated shower. Another breezy day and feeling rather cool at times. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Scattered showers on Sunday but becoming dry by the evening. Staying mostly dry on Monday but with rain and drizzle arriving later and into Tuesday. Turning warmer.
