Bristol weather: overcast skies to follow this week's heatwave

It may have been the summer holidays for many of the city's younger residents, but for a large portion of this week's heatwave workers were left looking longingly out the window and hoping for summer skies come the weekend.

Those eagerly anticipating a weekend of blazing heat are likely to be left disappointed however by the reality - the heatwave seems to have now well and truly passed.

What will today's weather look like?

It looks as though it'll be a sunny evening for Bristol (James Beck)

After a week of scorching heat, blazing sun, and huge storms, today's forecast is looking a little lacking in drama, to say the least.

Weather conditions can be summarised in one word: overcast.

It's been mostly cloudy all night long, and now that the sun's up it doesn't look as though that is set to change any time soon.

With temperatures of around 17C at 6am, the mercury will slowly rise throughout the day to a peak of 22C at around 4pm.

With just a ten per cent chance of rain, it's likely to remain day for most of the day - however the cloud is set to stick around making things a little less vibrant than we've seen over the past week.

By 7pm we may see a glimpse of the sunshine, however there will also be an increased 30 per cent chance of rain.

It'll cloud over at 8pm, before the sun makes a last-ditch attempt to push through the clouds at around 9pm.

The rest of the evening is set to be overcast, with temperatures dipping to 15C overnight.
