Bristol weather: Met Office predicts torrential rain and 'gales' for this weekend

The weather has turned decidedly more autumnal over the past few days, with tumbling temperatures the latest sign winter is approaching.

That trend is set to continue on the weekend, too: Saturday in particular is forecast to be a washout.

The Met Office's official forecast for the south west over the weekend reads: "Dry and sunny on Friday after morning showers clear eastwards. Unsettled on Saturday with heavy rain, strong winds and coastal gales. Windy with scattered showers on Sunday."

In Bristol specifically, temperatures will be between 10°C and 16°C on Friday and Saturday; on Sunday they fall ever so slightly to 10°C to 15°C.

The big difference is in the rain and wind, however: it's due to rain all afternoon and evening on Saturday, and wind speeds will hover around the 17mph mark - with gusts of up to 34mph.

Sunday will have showers sprinkled among the sunny spells, but it'll still be windy.

In short: make sure you get your raincoat and wellies out of the wardrobe before the weekend.
