Bristol weather: Met Office predicts city to have higher temperatures than Spain this week

Bristol could see temperatures hotter than the Spanish Costas this week, as the period of good weather extends past the Easter weekend. Highs of 18C could be seen around the country on Wednesday, which would be warmer than Barcelona and Valencia, where an area of low pressure could see cooler 14C weather, the Mirror reported.

It follows a scorching weekend of weather, as temperatures rose to 23C in Britain - the hottest of the year so far. And according to the Met Office, Thursday will also be a dry day in Bristol, although it could be followed by showers over the weekend.

The BBC's Stav Danaos says that on Wednesday, "the further west that you are, you could see highs of 18C, so perhaps a little bit warm on Wednesday with light winds and quite a bit of sunshine." And his colleague Matt Taylor said: "For those of you who have extended your Easter break into this week there is some good weather news in that there will be a lot of dry weather around."

Meanwhile, the official BBC forecast for the South West says that tomorrow will see "a dry and sunny morning." And it continues: "Some patchy light cloud may again develop during the afternoon, but it is expected to remain dry with spells of sunshine."

Full forecast

Here is the Met Office's outlook for the South West over the next few days.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be a dry day for most with some warm spells of sunshine. However, cloud could bubble up enough to produce a few afternoon showers, mainly in the west. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Thursday to Saturday

Thursday will be dry with sunny spells. Cloudier weather is expected on Friday and Saturday, perhaps with the odd shower. Feeling cooler than of late, given a brisk easterly breeze.
