Bristol weather: Met Office October forecast predicts freezing temperatures and downpours

Bristol could experience frost and fog over the next few weeks, according to the Met Office.

Forecasters have set out their predictions for the next 28 days, and it's looking like the current poor weather is set to continue.

Rainy days are expected to persist, with the Met Office predicting "unsettled" weather across the UK in the second half of October.

However, there could be some hope for Bristol, as the national weather service says that areas in the south of the country may experience drier conditions than those in the north.

Below is the forecast in full.

Thursday, October 7 - Saturday, October 16

Later next week, unsettled conditions are expected to be focused across the north and northwest with cloud and rain which may be heavy and persistent at times accompanied by some strong winds, particularly in coastal locations.

Further southeast, drier and more settled conditions look more likely. Whilst some sunny spells are expected, light winds will allow for some patchy fog to develop overnight which may locally be slow to clear.

Temperatures are expected to be above average through this period. Into the following week, this northwest-southeast regime is generally likely to persist.

However, there is an increasing likelihood of some occasional rain affecting areas further southeast with temperatures also returning to nearer average at times.

Sunday, October 17- Sunday, October 31

Confidence in this period is low.

Turning more widely unsettled across the UK, with wettest and windiest conditions remaining to the north and the northwest. Drier conditions still possible at times most likely in the south and southeast.

During more settled conditions frost and fog may become more prevalent overnight. Through this period temperatures will remain near or above average.
