Bristol weather: Met Office forecasts downpours for Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Cricket World Cup match

Summer might be here, but heavy downpours are due to batter Bristol this week.

While Met Office forecasters say the sun is due to last on Wednesday, June 5 and Thursday, June 6 - the week is going to come to a grizzly end.

Met Office afternoon forecast June 5

The agency is predicting heavy downpours on Friday, June 7 - which could see cricket fans left disappointed.

Thousands of people are due to watch Pakistan take on Sri Lanka at Bristol County Ground on June 7, but if current forecasts are correct the match could be a washout.

The Met Office forecast shows a 90 per cent chance of heavy rain from 7am to 1pm, with the chance rising to 95 per cent at times.

Things do improve throughout the afternoon - although not by much. From 1pm to 4pm there is between a 60 and 70 per cent chance of heavy rain.

Can I get a refund if the cricket is called off?

If the weather behaves itself, each team will bat for 50 overs. But in the event of rain the match officials may initially choose to reduce the overs played for each team, rather than postpone the game immediately.

Umpires will make regular pitch and weather inspections to ensure the match can go ahead.

Spectators will be entitled to a full refund of their ticket price (excluding fees) in the event of a match of 15 overs or less and 50 per cent if there's between 15.1 and 29.5 overs.
